Thai massage therapy has a broad scope as a natural therapy encompassing physical, spiritual, energetic, and emotional aspects. Stretching, shaking, vibration, range of motion and therapeutic touch can assist with self-awareness for the receiver helping them to experience their own body in the present.
During a Thai massage session, the therapist systematically addresses the layers of the body so that each layer softens allowing for deep therapeutic bodywork. One of the main goals in a Thai massage session is to free blocked energy (Chi, Qi, Prana) in the sen by facilitating its flow throughout the body. The sen encompasses the lymphatic system, tendons, ligaments, and neurovascular bundles. The sen lines are worked equally up and down to clear obstructions resulting in increased range of motion and diminished pain levels. When relief from pain, tension, and stress is achieved, a sense of well-being, self-connectedness, and balance is restored.
In this video, I am giving Paul a Thai massage on the massage table. I incorporate assisted stretching postures to help increase flexibility.
