Many years ago, my client had partially torn his left IT Band while getting into the Lotus yoga pose. Now as a result he has scar tissue along the IT Band. Due to tightness in his IT Band, he experiences pain from the friction along the side of his knee while running. When the IT Band is tight, it can also cause friction at the top of the hip, resulting in inflammation.

His first experience receiving IASTM on his IT Band was more painful than the injury itself so he did not return to that provider for treatments. He came to me for massage therapy with the goal of reducing adhesions in his IT Band. In the long run, he is hoping for it to return to its original length to avoid future problems with his hip. I used a combination of Deep Tissue Massage, Gua Sha, Thai Massage, and Ashiatsu techniques to work the area.
